About CSS:
The Nation’s Leading Movement for Community-Based Security
Community Security Service (CSS) is the premier community-based Jewish security organization in the United States. Founded in 2007, CSS is built on a profound sense of responsibility and trust, and on the belief that the Jewish community is the most motivated, most capable and most legitimate force to protect its own institutions and way of life.
We believe that safety should never force our community behind closed doors. By transforming passive institutions into active, resilient sanctuaries, we give American Jews the confidence to gather, pray and celebrate openly, proudly and safely.
We adhere to a timeless principle: We do not stand idly by.

The eyes and ears of the community
CSS trains Jewish volunteers across the U.S. to become the first line of defense for their own institutions. From entry-level situational awareness training to advanced, professional-grade security programs for congregants, trained CSS volunteer teams work hand in hand with law enforcement and serve as the “eyes and ears of the community.”
Our Historical Torch:
100 years of protecting Jewish life
Our commitment is historical, drawing a direct line from the brave veterans who came before us. In the 1930s, the Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) marched down Madison Avenue in New York City to sound the alarm bells about the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany.
Today, CSS proudly carries that same torch. We turn historical vigilance into a modern, active defense, preparing ordinary community members to protect their own synagogues, events and communal spaces. This enduring legacy of service and trust is guided by our professional leadership, including our CEO, Board Chair, Security Advisory Council and Executive Staff, who ensure our grassroots movement remains professional-grade and ready to meet today’s challenges.

Our National Impact
Powered by a professional team of full-time staff, CSS drives a national grassroots
movement that delivers measurable protection to more than 750,000 people across the U.S.
“CSS is unique and invaluable, its training is best in class, and I am proud to volunteer my time helping them.”
Mark J. Sullivan
22nd Director of the U.S. Secret Service
